• Some knowledge of medical terminology to be encountered in medical claims.

• Effective communication skills for phone contacts with payers to resolve issues.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects.
• Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.

Duties

• Prepare invoices, process payments and pursue past-due balances.
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Enter charges and payments accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment responses.
• Process and follow up on payer denials within standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Research and resolve client billing problems or issues and appeal denied claims.
• Review client bills for accuracy and completeness and obtaining any missing information.
• Check insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
• Maintain patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required
• Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel)
• Previous medical experience preferred
• Intermediate data entry skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Billing & Coding experience strongly preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
